Home: Lost But Not Forgotten (part 2 of 9)

Inspired by Galatians 2:20-21: “I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So the life I now live in the body, I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside God’s grace, because if righteousness could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing!”  [New English Translation]

Her surroundings are so vastly different from what they had once been. Her Meadow was a very open space, and she could run free among the wildflowers, but now her Meadow has become nothing. This new place she found herself in was agreeable enough, but it pales in comparison to her Meadow. As hours pass, she only becomes more overwhelmed and uncertain of this peculiar situation she finds herself in. She is petrified, and alone. Falling to the ground, she begins to sob.

“I am still here,” whispers the Sunshine. She jolts up from where she fell, thinking she hears a voice.

“Who’s there?” Asks the little girl.

“After everything that has happened, how can you not recognize me?” Remarks the Sunshine disappointedly.

“Who are you?” Pleads the little girl.

“You already know.” States the Sunshine, now slightly smirking. For wherever she goes, the Sunshine will always follow. The only thing that ever changes is her ability to see the Sunshine.

Stricken by her bewilderment, the little girl thinks long and hard. She thinks about what this unfamiliar voice might be. She has never heard such a strange voice. Strange not because it is repulsive or distinctly unfamiliar, but because of its haunting beauty. She smiles. Maybe this so-called forest is not as intimidating as it seems. However, she still misses her Sunshine. Even though her new surroundings are agreeable enough, there is no source of light, which makes it very difficult to go anywhere or see anything.

I wonder if it’s still out there somewhere, thinks the little girl.

Questions to Ponder:  What do you think the “Sunshine" represents?  Do you have any “Sunshine” in your life?
