Prayer Vigil produces
results
Thanks
again for all that participated in the 22 hour prayer vigil the weekend
of August 3rd and 4th. The Student Ministry team continues to be blessed
in our process. In the past couple months we have been almost overrun
with 20 potential people to consider for a call as Director of Student
Ministry at Prince of Peace. This week we will have completed our 9th
phone interview in the past three weeks – the candidates are very
strong. You can help by your continual prayers as we look to fulfill
God’s will in the process. The plan is to invite several candidates for
a meet and greet with the congregation including youth and their
parents, in the near future.

update (June 10, 2006): Team
Members Chosen (Student Ministry Transition Team)
As announced previously in the
Communicator, Student Minister Erika Kosterlitzky is stepping down
at the end of July in order to pursue other avenues of employment and
service.
A Transition Team has been formed, composed of parents of students that
represent a broad range of ages and backgrounds—from parents of those
entering 5th grade in the fall (PoP’s youngest youth group is 5th and
6th grade), to parents of high school students. Those who have agreed to
serve on the team are: Ken Lee, Liz Murphy, Sally Proctor, Beth Samec,
and Stefan South. They themselves represent a variety of backgrounds and
areas of service within the church.
Pastor Ken will serve as an ex-officio member of the team.
The Transition Team will lead Prince of Peace in identifying current
needs and future challenges in Student Ministry, determining the desired
qualities and gifts to be possessed by candidates for the position, and
outlining the position description. More than anything else, this is a
spiritual, or Spirit-led process, with Team members devoting themselves
to prayer and trusting God’s leading every step of the way. We ask that
join us in prayer as God leads us to the servant leader He desires to be
here at PoP.

update (May 4, 2006): Student Ministry Transition Team Forming
Student Ministry Transition Team
Forming
With the announcement from Student Minister, Erika Kosterlitzky, that
she will be leaving that position in mid-summer in order to seek other
avenues of employment and service, Prince of Peace will be entering a
time of transition in the area of Student Ministry. As comes with
changes in staffing and leadership, there will be a need for PoP to
enter into a process through which we identify needs, future challenges,
and seek bring aboard staff who are best able to lead us to the future
God has for us.
As a part of that process, a Student Ministry “Transition Team” is
forming. This team will be composed of and led by lay people of Prince
of Peace, with Minister of Nurturing,
Pastor Ken, serving as an ex-officio member. This team will set out
to determine specific needs of our ministry to students and families
today, identify any gaps in our current ministry, and seek God’s
guidance as we look toward new ways of reaching out with Christ’s love
for years to come.
In the months ahead, this Transition Team will host a series of open
forums to gather input from parents and students respectively. They will
also look at immediate needs created by this vacancy in the Student
Minister position and will identify what types of interim staffing may
be necessary for us to continue to serve students and families in this
vital ministry.
Times of transition present real opportunities to us as God’s people:
opportunities to seek God’s will and direction for the future;
opportunities for all of us to find new ways of working together today;
opportunities for individuals (parents, students, impacting adults) to
explore different leadership or support roles within our Student
Ministry; opportunities to grow in our trust and reliance upon God,
whose ministry this is. May God bless us as we face these opportunities
with His grace and His power.
