Posting Guidelines and Privacy Policy

Statement of Posting Guidelines and Privacy Policy for the Public Web Site -- www.poplc.org

Introduction

The Prince of Peace Church and School public Web site, poplc.org, is accessible to anyone in the world who has Internet access to the World Wide Web.  As such, this statement lists the guidelines the PoP Webmaster(s) follows in posting content to the public site.  This is an addition to existing PoP privacy policy.

There are plans to create a password-protected segment of poplc.org to give members of PoP access to information that is not available on the public site.  This access will require registration and passwords.  Additional policies and guidelines will be available when this segment is launched.

General Guidelines for Posting Content

bulletThe Webmaster will only post information that in the judgment of the Webmaster is legal, accurate and in compliance with the beliefs and teachings of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.  No obscene, derogatory, discriminatory in a racial, sexual or age-related sense, or sacrilegious information will be posted.

bulletThe Webmaster will not knowingly post any copyrighted material to the public website without a release from the owner of the material.  It is the responsibility of the person submitting the material to the webmaster for publication to obtain any necessary copyright releases and photo credits.

bulletThe Webmaster will not post any form of a congregational directory on the public web site that would associate the names of people with their personal email addresses or home street addresses.  The Webmaster will, however, post submitted announcements of events or material about ministries that may contain personal contact information for congregational point persons.  It is the responsibility of the person submitting the announcement or narrative to be sure the contact information can be made public.

bulletSince the weekly Communicator newsletter can be accessed from the Web site, content that would violate photographic or privacy guidelines for the Web site will be deleted before being posted to the Web site.

Guidelines for Posting Photographs

bulletThe Webmaster will not associate names with images of any children or youth younger than 18 years of age who appear in pictures posted on the PoP Web site.

bulletThe Webmaster may include names of persons 18 years old and older (adults) in captions for pictures posted on the PoP Web site.  If pictures of adults are posted with a name(s) in the caption, that same Web page will not associate a personal phone number, email address, or home street address of such persons.

bulletAdults can contact the Church Office to request that their pictures, pictures of their children, or other family information not be posted on the Web site.  The Church Office is responsible for providing the Webmaster with an up-to-date opt-out list.

Privacy of On-Line User Responses

In a number of pages on the Web site, the user has the option of clicking on a link to send an email to Church staff or to ministry leaders.  The Web site may also feature registration or information forms that can be filled out on line and submitted.  The following guidelines are in place to guide the submission and handling of information submitted by Web site users:

bulletIn general, privacy of information provided to the PoP Church Office and School through email links or through form submissions is covered by the general privacy policy of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and School.

bulletThe Webmaster assures that every form describes or lists the destination of the information submitted.

bulletThe Webmaster assures that email submissions go directly to the PoP server and are not directed to outside addresses or to server addresses that are not password protected.

Administration of the poplc.org Web Site

bulletThe webmaster(s) and poplc.org are under the general supervision of the Communications Support Ministry Team.  In cases where there are disputes concerning the Web site, the Communication Support Ministry Leader will consult with the Senior Pastor and/or his designee, as appropriate, and make a final decision.

bulletNo more than four individuals will have editorial access to poplc.org at any one time.

bulletThe Communications Support Ministry Team in conjunction with the Ministry Administrator will monitor the overall compliance with the web policies.

Linkages to Other Sites and Privacy

The PoP Web site provides Internet links to other Web sites.  These links are provided to give users additional information.  While the Webmaster deems these sites to be reputable, the user of poplc.org is directed to be aware that such sites are beyond the control of the Webmaster and PoP.  These sites may place cookies on the user’s computer or solicit information or data.  These sites may contain advertising.  These sites may, in turn, direct the user to other sites.  This is the nature of the World Wide Web.  The Webmaster takes reasonable measures to alert users that they are leaving the poplc.org site when they click on one of these links.
