Stock FamilyAre you new to Prince of Peace? Looking to get connected? Welcome!

We welcome many new members into the Prince of Peace family every year - we want to welcome you, too! Come discover what membership is all about by attending a Newcomers' Reception or our DOORWAY, and Core classes.  During these events you will be able to meet members of the Prince of Peace staff, discover the Mission & Vision, Core Values, and Core Ministries of POP, and learn the basics of the Christian faith as taught and confessed in the Lutheran Church.

The Newcomers' Reception

The Newcomers' Reception is an opportunity for you to meet Prince of Peace pastors and staff members in a relaxed, conversational setting. Newcomer's Receptions are scheduled a few times per year, (e.g. Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). Watch The Communicator newsletter for dates and times.

DOORWAY class

The DOORWAY class is a multi-session orientation for all newcomers to the Mission & VisionCore Values, and Core Ministries of Prince of Peace. The class is offered during the Sunday School hour, several times throughout the year and is intended for everyone, especially those considering membership at Prince of Peace. Coffee and refreshments are provided for participants and children aged three through high school are invited to attend Sunday School classes downstairs during this time. Nursery care is also available in the Church Nursery for children ages two and younger, and can be arranged through the Church Office (703)451-5855.

The Core: What We Believe

The Core: What We Believe provides an overview of the basics of the Christian faith as taught and confessed in the Lutheran Church. It is highly recommended for those not currently members of a Lutheran congregation, and is helpful to anyone seeking information about the Lutheran expression of the Christian faith. Those wishing to transfer their membership from another Lutheran congregation are also encouraged to attend The Core: What We Believe. Classes are offered on a weekend (Friday evening, from 7-9pm and Saturday, from 9am - 3pm) and refreshments including lunch are provided.

New Member Reception

New members are received and welcomed in a short ceremony during the 11am Worship several times throughout the church year.  We hope that you will be able to join us and participate in this service!
