Gifts Memorials and Endowments

There are occasions when individuals and families desire to contribute financially to the work of Prince of Peace and to specify that the funds be used for a particular purpose other than meeting current expenses.  For those who are members of Prince of Peace, this would be giving “over and above” their regular giving.

Generally, Memorials and Gifts fall into the following categories:

Establishing a memorial fund in honor of a loved one who has passed away

Giving a gift in honor of a particular person or group

Sharing the joy of an unanticipated financial windfall

What is an Endowment?

Prince of Peace has created an endowment fund with the purpose "to receive gifts and bequests and to use them for the further growth of the mission and the ministry of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church."  Gifts to the fund will grow resources to support long-term ministry projects, programs, and major expenses to ensure the viability of Prince of Peace well into the future.  Gifts to date have included a substantial contribution, the proceeds of which will fund scholarships for Prince of Peace Preschool children.

Suggested gifts to the Endowment Fund include direct cash contributions, bequests in wills, assignment of life insurance, certificates of deposit, charitable annuities, charitable remainder and other trusts, or transfers of other properties such as cash, stocks, bonds, or title to real estate.

The Fund is managed by individuals appointed by the Board of Servant Leaders.  Their duties and responsibilities include receiving and managing all bequests to the fund, working with donors to ensure that restricted gifts fit within the purpose of the growth of the mission and ministry of POP, and ensuring that the funds are used for the designated purpose.

The Endowment Fund offers the opportunity for individuals to do gift planning in a way that leaves a legacy to Prince of Peace and provides potential tax advantages to the giver.
