Prince of Peace Engages Members in Global Missions and Community Outreach
The Prince of Peace Welcome or CARE MINISTRY equips members of the congregation to help meet the needs of visitors at Worship services. Care Teams serve first-time-attenders, and follow-up in making all newcomers welcomed and informed. The Care Team member is often the first friend a visitor meets in the church. Prince of Peace has 12 Care Ministry Teams and each team serves once a month.
Care Ministry is having a major impact on community spirit at Prince of Peace by using teams and prayer to meet guests and members at their point of need. By making themselves available to God to work his plan through them, Care Ministers have put people in touch with God’s help and hope through prayer and personal care.
As part of our outreach effort to the community, Prince of Peace offers weekly English classes to immigrants and other non-native speakers. Classes are provided during the daytime and the evening beginning in September and concluding in May. For more information on ESL classes and registering, see our ESL Classes Page.
Ecumenical Community Helping Others (ECHO) is an all volunteer charity created and supported by numerous churches throughout the Burke and Springfield, VA, area, that gives food and financial help to people with short-term emergencies, and provides clothes and household items to people with low incomes.
