Reading the Book of Luke in the Bible January 2008 reading for Faith Shapers 1. Read this book the first time through as you would read any book. The book will take you about 2-4 hours to read. Listen for, and make note of, the main topics, the fundamental ideas, the purpose of the book, 2. The second time that you read Luke, look for the things that are particularly speaking to you. These points tend to rivet your attention, can make you stop to think about them in more depth, can cause a feeling of remorse for an action taken or for one not taken, can make you see yourself more clearly. 3. Read Luke a third time. Start with a prayer that God would reveal His truth to you and make you receptive to the Spirit’s guiding. Slow down as you read…so that you can “inwardly digest God’s Word.” Ask God to create within you a desire to truly hear Him speaking through His Living Word.
