Call committee reformed Mar, seek candidates Apr/Dec including from congregation, interview process Sep07/Feb08, Call/hire Mar/Jun 08, $30k FY07-08

Increased gospel spreading critical events among our friends, neighbors and fellow workers.  Draw people to become a member of the Body of Christ at PoP.

Pray for God to lead us to who He has prepared to lead Gathering Ministry

Connecting School families with the Body of Christ at PoP

Plan worship services, family events, fellowship events focused on the School families

Form a School Family Care Team Apr/May, lay out approach for care support, plan connections events

Critical events occur as part of caring.  Invitations to worship and building of relationships occur as part of caring.

Coordinate pathway events with other Core Ministries, especially Women’s Ministry.  Offer prayers of praise and thanksgiving for the gifted teachers & leadership that continue to make PoPLS a successful ministry.

Many in our parish do not know the gospel message and are not going to come to a worship service

Conduct ALPHA: Invite friends and neighbors to  ALPHA sessions that are run in homes and at PoP

Plan for at least 2 yrs, increase number of times offered each year in 07-08, $10k for part-time admin/dinner coordinator

Critical events occur in ALPHA meetings.  Invitations to PoP worship also occur there.

Need support from other ministries to help recruit ALPHA leaders and bring ALPHA students

People in our neighborhoods are poorly connected to Christ, PoP people are not bringing friends to ALPHA and are asking for faith sharing tools

Neighborhood Care Cells in the homes of PoP, St. John’s and Grace Ethiopian members.  Growing out of the influence of Mission India and presentation of John DeVries.

Form teams & train to equip PoP people to effectively share their faith using prayer, listening, servant evangelism in their neighborhood. 3 cells by 12/07, 8 by 12/08

Critical events occur in prayer cells.  Invitations to ALPHA and to worship also in prayer cells.  As we reach out to our neighbors, earn the right to invite people to ALPHA.

Serving Ministry coordinate with other Circuit 9 churches for forming neighborhood groups

Only 15% of first time attenders become members

CARE ministry teams trained to meet, learn of prayer need & pray with each first time attender, connecting them with 3 other members

Recruit and train new team members, two training courses a year, add at least one new person to each of the 12 teams

Increases the number of first time attenders that become members and attend worship

Core ministries follow-up with connections for new members

The need to help families build their children’s faith in the homes around our church

Plan 6 Keep the Faith events providing faith building for children.  Connect with Circuit 9 & other Spfld churches for Keep the Faith training and events

Nurturing Ministry
FY 2008

Other Nurturing Ministry Initiatives:

4      Continued work with Student Ministry Transition Team
- vision of serving 100-150 students through PoP’s ministry
- worship, service, and ongoing discipleship are key components
- continued search for an experienced Minister to Students to lead and train

4      Leading in Ministry to Families
- join a network – Association of Family Friendly Churches, drawing others in this region
- utilize consultant to evaluate and affirm current ministry structures as we serve families
- be intentional in our desire to equip families for the challenges of today…and tomorrow

4      Small Group Ministries
- continuing the growth that we have seen this past year (Heartline groups; young adults group; groups that have come back together after being dormant)
- explore a name change: “Life Groups”; may assist those who are hesitant to become a part of a “Bible study group”
- draw together additional leaders to steer this vital ministry
- develop new training structures (modeling and mentoring for new leaders)

4      Ministry to Inactives
- has been working behind the scenes to equip
- a continuing need to “train everyone; enlist those God has called to serve in this way”
- focus is not on numbers, per se, but on people and continuing the relationships; trusting God to take care of the results

Prince of Peace Town Meeting Feedback Form Compilation

77 people attended the Town Meetings.  60 Feedback Forms were turned in representing 63 people – 59 marked “I support”, one unmarked with “I need to look at the Plan”.

Questions from the Floor:

Is the planned Alpha budget sufficient for the expenses as we have come to know them from this year’s experience?  Answer: Will check and respond back.

What is in the increase in Personnel / Overhead?  Answer:  There are three major components in the increase; Gathering Minister starting in Spring 08, Suppport Staff increase from ¾ year to full year, and increase in Healthcare benefits cost.

Can ceiling-hung choir microphones be installed in the Sanctuary?  Answer:  Those are included in the new sound system for which we will be raising funds this summer.

How are the demographics in our church community changing?  Answer:  Will get an update and respond back.  Previous information has shown a drop in average age and an increase in multiethnic neighbors.

Feedback Form Comments:

Thank you for all your dedicated service to the Lord!

Emphasis of prayer and discernment of God’s will remains key.

I remain thankful for the ministers and ministry leaders God blesses us with.

I appreciate the efforts of the BoSL and the church staff.  Your efforts are evident in the material provided us.

Evident throughout this plan is leadership and activity of the Holy Spirit amongst and through us.

Where are we going with Small Group Ministry?

Alpha: How much $ will Hospitality Ministry absorb of food costs?

Alpha spent $1,000 over budget by January due to cost of food, primarily.

Obviously, $200 increase not enough!

Are there any plans to provide “hearing aids” for those that may have impaired hearing?

Why don’t we continue to print large print bulletins for those with reduced eyesight?

Pray, pray & pray!

For the areas that are being asked to make room for other things, it may be good to mention the expected impact of the trade off.  Does anything not get done, was it just a realization that too much budget was there in FY07? Etc.

Exciting new plans!

I am interested in the neighborhood cells – as a Spring Oak Cluster Chair for Burke Centre and the contacts I’m continually making as well as relationships.

We have 3 groups of college students who could use an exciting ministry & social contacts.

Also, we have a variety of internationals in our cluster.

We believe the Family Life Center should be the highest priority.

Will take a lot of prayers!

When does the church plan to make a decision on the four initiatives?

Please continue and increase the use of quality children’s programs and studies.

Determine what quality means.

I like the way it focuses not just inward, but also outward.

I like that I see and feel God’s presence within the church and that He is calling for growth and that Prince of Peace is responding to that.  I strongly sense that, as I pray for God to provide opportunities for my husband and I to grow and serve God more, that the ministry plan provides us that opportunity and that God is calling us to support it and help out in some way.  I am excited and look forward to being a part of God’s plan in reaching out to others.

We are excited about the expanding ministry.  Especially our outreach to our younger generation.  Without our youth and young families the church would become stale.

I am excited by the potential for growth of ministries to other ethnic groups.  I hope that this will one day be reflected in our worship services.  Our attendance is heavily weighted toward “white”, and I believe we are missing many blessings that come from diversity.  As I look around the sanctuary at this meeting, I see no one who is not of Northern European ethnicity.

As we partner with other parishes to call a Hispanic Mission Developer, have we incorporated lessons learned from a similar venture when we called Pastor Yun?

I would be happy to serve on this committee.

I am excited to hear what is in the possibilities for Prince of Peace and for the seeking of God’s leading as to which ministries to pursue.

I thank God for our pastors, staff and leaders in ministry.

I continue to hope and pray that our church, which speaks of valuing our youth, will in fact put that fully into practice by facilities and personnel and funding.

As we look to outreach I would suggest that we consider supporting parents.  There are NO programs to help parents that I heard of.  Nurturing God’s Way could be provided at various ages and stages – Pres-school parents, choir parents, confirmation parents, youth parents.  Kids get together.  Parents need a forum to come together to learn & grown and receive support from their peers.

Of course, I’d like to reach parents of all nationalities.  I need to find people willing to be trained in Infant Massage plus materials to distribute to draw them to the classes.

I had not realized the changes taking place in our church until Pastor John’s sermon last week, which I found informative.  I will be renewing my personal prayer efforts for PoP’s efforts at outreach and building.  Thank you for your work!

We need to continue focusing on the youth in order to grow our congregation.

I liked the plan but the graphs (only a few) and budget summary were a bit hard to understand.

I think that the Sunday School Space issue was explained well at this meeting but nowhere else.  3rd through 8th grade have enough space.  They just don’t have big enough furniture.  Kindergarten is where they don’t have enough space.

The church was referred to as a corporation which made it sound very impersonal and that the main goal of our congregation is to raise money, which it obviously isn’t.  I don’t see the point of the analogy and think that it is needless.

Can we please consider adding permanent choral microphones to the choir loft?  This could be tastefully done as it is at many churches.

I would like to see more home group Bible Studies meeting weekly or every other week.  If more adults were involved during the week in neighborhood study/prayer/home churches, could more space be available on Sunday morning for the 3rd – 8th graders and others?

I’m very excited about prayer.  Why Pray is inspiring.  I like the ideas of neighborhood prayer cells.  Perhaps combine these with Bible Study / Home Church?

p.s. I want to participate in a weekly or biweekly home Bible / Prayer Group.
